FAQ

Questions, answered upfront

Everything we're asked most often about the product, the beta, mentors, and safety. For cohort-specific details, see the beta FAQ.

General

What is Todai Health?

Todai Health is a structured peer-mentorship service for people living with chronic illness — starting with diabetes. We pair you with a trained Care Mentor who has lived the same journey, and back the work with daily tools and an AI safety layer.

Is Todai Health medical care?

No. We don't diagnose, treat, or change your medication. Care Mentors help you build habits, think clearly, and stay accountable between visits with your clinician. We're complementary to clinical care, not a replacement.

What is a Care Mentor?

A trained peer who lives with the same chronic illness as you. Mentors follow a coaching framework with clear scope and escalation rules — this isn't freeform chat with a stranger online.

Beta

How much does the beta cost?

The beta is free for participating members. We're building this with the first cohort, and the trade-off is honest feedback in exchange for early access.

Who can join the beta?

Adults in the US and Canada living with diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, or related). Full eligibility and cohort details live on the beta application page.

What devices do I need?

A smartphone or laptop with a camera and a stable internet connection for weekly video sessions. No specialized hardware or wearable is required to participate.

Where do I apply?

On the beta application page: /beta-testers. Please don't apply through the contact form — it slows things down.

Product

What does the weekly rhythm look like?

One structured 1:1 session per week with your Care Mentor, plus lightweight daily check-ins and short content between sessions. Nothing demanding — small inputs that compound over the week.

Is there an AI chatbot I can message?

No. AI runs behind the scenes to support mentors with guardrails and risk awareness — there isn't a chatbot you message for advice. Humans make the calls.

Can Todai send me medication reminders?

We may surface reminders you set yourself, for informational purposes only. Todai Health is not responsible for missed doses or medication decisions — always follow your clinician's instructions and your medication's labeling.

How is my data shared with my doctor?

Manually, by you. You can download or export what you'd like to share and bring it to your clinician outside the app. During the beta, Todai does not integrate directly with external healthcare providers.

How is my privacy protected?

Your sessions and data are private to you and your Care Mentor, with the AI safety layer operating under strict scope. See our privacy policy for specifics, or email hello@todaihealth.com.

Mentors

Are Care Mentors paid?

During the beta, Care Mentors participate on a volunteer basis. If and when paid mentoring opportunities are available in the future, beta mentors will be given priority consideration.

What training do mentors get?

Mentors complete a structured onboarding covering role, scope, coaching framework, escalation, and use of the safety tools. We do not offer a full clinical certification program during the beta.

How do I apply to be a mentor?

Through the same beta page — /beta-testers. The application asks about your lived experience and what you want to bring to the cohort.

Safety

What if I'm in crisis?

Todai Health is not an emergency service.

If you are in a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

US and Canada Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: 988.

What does the AI actually do?

It assists mentors — flagging risk signals, keeping sessions within scope, and surfacing relevant context. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or replace human judgment, and there is no AI chatbot you message directly.

Who do I contact about a safety concern?

For non-emergency safety concerns about Todai Health itself, email hello@todaihealth.com. For emergencies, see the crisis answer above.
